Dear Interfaith Friends,
Join us for our next One Naperville Interfaith Dialog and Study:
on Sunday, February 10, 2:00 to 4:00 pm
at Congregation Beth Shalom, 772 West Fifth Avenue, Naperville
Topic: "Righteous Giving and Maimonides Ladder of Tzedakah"
The traditional Jewish view of Tzedakah, or righteous acts of charity, holds that giving is not voluntary, but a commandment to create a just world by alleviating suffering, poverty, and hunger and pursuing peace. Maimonides, a famous 12th century rabbi whose works are still studied today, taught that the way one gives charity is also important. We will briefly study such Jewish views as well as views of charity from diverse perspectives in the interfaith community, and then give opportunity for dialog and discussion.
Members of all communities are welcomed. Join our living conversation to build a more peaceful neighborhood and world.
Refreshments will be served. No RSVP is needed and there is no cost to attend.
