Ongoing Interfaith Programs
One Naperville:
One Naperville is the programming arm of NILA. The committee meets periodically to create, organize, and schedule various interfaith meetings throughout the community. These meetings are intended to deepen our knowledge of different faiths and to better understand different religious perspectives. It is common to see an interfaith event once a month throughout the majority of the year.
Monthly NILA Meetings:
NILA hosts monthly lunchtime meetings to provide religious and lay leaders the opportunity to develop a cooperative interfaith community, to inform leaders of community issues and social service programs, and to learn from and stand in collegiality and solidarity with each other to advance and advocate for common concerns. Interested members of the public are also invited to attend.
Dates: Fourth Tuesday of the month, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm
Months: Sept., Oct., Nov., Jan., Feb., Mar., Apr., May
Place: Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville
Notice for next meeting: (available about a week before each meeting, contains topic/speaker)
World Peace Day Prayer Service:
Beginning in 2005 the interfaith community of Naperville and surrounding areas have gathered at the beginning of each year to pray for world peace and celebrate our rich diversity. These interfaith prayer services are held on the first Sunday of the new year and usually take place on the campus of North Central College. There are many faith communities that co-sponsor this event including: Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Christian Scientists, Buddhist, Unitarian Universalists, Baha'i, Hindu, Sikh, Latter Day Saints and a number of interfaith organizations.
